Cables Cameras and MANDEM present an exclusive Q&A discussion with Sheridan De Myers, director of 'The Weekend' movie, about the future of black and minority ethnic filmmakers in the UK.
Our national broadcasters have an obligation under their operating licenses to reflect the society we live in, both on and off screen. However, a report by Directors UK, launched in September 2018, revealed that despite the fact that 14% of the UK population consists of people from ethnic minority backgrounds, just 2.22% of our TV programmes are made by BAME directors.
- What barriers might BAME directors face in the industry?
- Can we push a more diverse range of people to get into film?
- Why is diversity and representation important?
Come along to this event to hear Sheridan share some wise words from his experience in the industry.
